Digital photography question?

My girl in Russia sent me some photos through e mail. I downloaded them to a memory stick. I took it to the print machine at the store. The machine told me that in order to make a print that is not unclear or pixelated I have to bump up the pixels from 420x??? to 1024x ???.

Is there any free software out there that can optimize these photos for a better quality final print?

  1. Your girl sent you lower resolution pictures. If you convert it to 1024x ??? then when you print them out, it will become more pixelated. Tell her to send you the higher resolution pictures.

If you want free software for editing pictures, I highly recommend GIMP from www.gimp.org. This is an open source picture manipulation software which works similarly to Photoshop.
