Digvijay Singh, Anirban Lahiri and Jeev Milkha makes the cut at Ballantine's Championship
Digvijay Singh, Anirban Lahiri and Jeev Milkha successfully made the cut, in the second round of the Ballantine's Championship.
The three Indians displayed an average performance in both the rounds, competed well and now are heading for the third round on Saturday.
Digvijay scored 1-under 143, Lahiri scored equal to par and Milkha scored 2-over 146, in total after the completion of the second round, at the Blackstone Golf Club, Icheon in Seoul, South Korea.
They are competing well for the €2,205,000 purse European Tour event and aiming to finish among the top leaderboard positions.
Digvijay teed off the tournament on Thursday and scored two birdies and three bogeys, finished by scoring +1.
Then he impressed the spectators by hitting -2 in the second round. He finished tied for the 19th place and earned huge respect.
Lahiri made four long yards birdies, one bogey and a double-bogey in the first round. He finished on Thursday, by hitting -1 at day-end.
Then he further scored four more birdies, three bogeys and one double-bogey in the second round as well.
He was unable to score well on Friday. However, he finished tied for the 49th position, scoring equal to par.
Milkha’s performance was static in South Korea. He shot 72 in the first round, by scoring two birdies and two bogeys. Then on Friday, he was unable to be under par and shot 74.
He somehow managed to be among the cut makers. However, he will be facing tough challenging rivals in the remaining two rounds.
Except for these three Indian golfers, six other Indian professionals missed the cut, delivering a poor performance in South Korea.
Jyoti Randhawa (76-74), Chiragh Kumar (83-75), SSP Chowrasia (74-76), Himmat Rai (79-70), Sujjan Singh (77-74) and Shiv Kapur (76-75) missed the cut.
These six players are renowned golf players in India and in the Asian region. Losing a chance to make the cut in an Asian tournament, is likely to affect their career and popularity adversely.
Now Digvijay, Lahiri and Milkha are heading for the third round, to be played on Saturday. They will face the tough competitive strokes from the other international players. Hence, their best can only help them to be on the top or among the top-25.
