Digvijay Singh and Siddikur Rahman eyeing victory in the Maybank Malaysian Open – Golf News
Indian Digvijay Singh is eyeing his second Asian Tour win through the Maybank Malaysian Open at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, from Thursday, April 12 to 15, 2012.
Singh believes that his confidence level has been touching the sky since the first win of his career came that in the Panasonic Open India, two weeks ago.
He said that he will try to take the path of the two-time Asian Tour number one, Jeev Milkha Singh, who has registered several wins in his career on different tours.
According to Singh, winning in India was a great feeling for him. Yet, he wants to register a win outside of his country as he believes that winning a home soil tournament is quite easy because of the knowledge and experience one has on the course.
On the other hand, playing on foreign soil has always been a tough test for the players. Therefore, he wants to prove his worth by winning the Malaysian Open this year.
"After that win (Panasonic Open India), a lot has changed especially my confidence and the way I look at the game. I'm not worried about keeping my Asian Tour card anymore and that's the first thing that came into my mind," Singh said.
He also said that he was continuously working on his rhythm because it worked magic for him in the past.
He told that he was not much worried about where he hits the ball in the Panasonic Open. The only thing that mattered to him was rhythm that earned him a victory in the end.
Mohammad Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh is another player to aim his second Asian Tour victory this year at the Malaysian Open. He was the top-listed Asian player to take eighth position on the leaderboard last year.
"I've been struggling to win a second title. I came close two weeks ago so I hope I can win again soon. I always enjoy coming and playing in Malaysia. When I see the crowd following and cheering for me, it gives me more energy to play," he said.
Matteo Manassero will be defending the title this year in Malaysia.
