Despite Olympique de Marseille’s strong interest in the player this summer, the Ligue 2 outfit have refused to part ways with their goalkeeper
The 21-year-old has earned massive praise following a number of impressive performances for Dijon in the Ligue 1 last season despite the club getting relegated in the end.
The young custodian was impressive for Olivier Dall'Oglio’s side last season and earned massive praise from pundits and fans with his shot-stopping abilities. Had it not been for Reynet, Dijon would have gotten relegated much earlier.
The Frenchman conceded 58 goals in 37 matches with Dijon last season. Although the stats don’t look that decent on paper, the former Martigues player was more than handy for Dijon considering the poor defence of the recently relegated French side.
Marseille have been monitoring the player’s situation for quite a while and want to add the talented goalkeeper to their ranks as a backup to club’s first-choice goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Mandanda-c34177.
However, the former Ligue 1 outfit have rebuffed Les Phoceens’ approach for the goalkeeper as they are not interested in cashing in on the 21-year-old.
Dijon’s sporting director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Perez has stated that their goalkeeper is not for sale at any cost as the management are looking to get back to the Ligue 1 as early as possible. The sporting director said that Reynet is one of their best players and coach
has huge plans for the youngster.
“We understand that the attraction of a club like Marseille is great. But for us it is clear, we do not want to sell him.”
Perez said that coach Olivier Dall'Oglio wants to build his side around Reynet and has set his sights on a quick return to the top division of the French football. Selling their number one goalkeeper would unbalance the whole squad and that is something
that Dijon want to avoid.
“We want to build our team around him [Reynet], and do not want to sell him as it would unbalance the whole squad,” Dijon’s sporting director told reporters.
However, it is yet to be seen if Baptiste Reynet remains with Dijon and plays 2012/2013 season in the Ligue 2 or would like the idea of playing for a club in the top tier of the French football.
