  1. that's funny! I live in Dijon!!!

Trust me, it's a great city, really beautiful... and the food is excellent! try our famous "escargots de Bourgogne", you won't regret...

Your exchange program: is it with a high school? college?

We pay in euros! no more francs...

  2. hi!!

hey i'm french from Paris!  don't you worry , france is great, i hope you're able to speak a little french, cause not many ppl aren't able to get out a simple word of english!

i've never been to Dijon. i think its nice. just if you wanna go out, its very expensive.

but you'll have a great time, im sure. i don't know when you are going, so i hope you'll have a nice weather.

    summon your courage, and enjoyyyyyyy!!!!

french guys and french gals just looooove the english accent. its sooo sweet and s**y!

    10000 bisous de Paris

  3. Uh, aren't the French on the Euro now? I'm pretty sure they are, but probably still use Francs; don't buy your Euros or Francs in the USA-they slam you with additional fees; also, don't exchange more then around 100US dollars- the prices vary from day to day; just google "rate of exchange France" and get the current rate! have fun and bring a calculator...especially if your dealing with Francs...Euros are easy...almost the same as dollars...

  4. Hi

Don't you are from Kentucky ?

There's an exchange between Univ of Burgundy and Univ of Kentucky. I was student in Dijon for 3 years and I left to Kentucky for 2 years.

Dijon is a great city, it's not a big famous city, but it's very pretty.

Downtown is very beautiful with old architecture. You should walk in Rue de la liberté and small streets around Place Darcy (Darcy Place), St Benigne Cathedral, Notre Dame and the chouette (owl), Place du Théatre (Theatre place), St Michel church, Port du Canal (Canal Harbor), le lac Kir (Kir Lake, great for running), Parc de la Colombière (Colombière Park)

Concerning pubs I advise you to drink in :

    - the Beer Country (many kinds of beers) if you like rock music

    - the Galways and the McCarthy's (irish bar)

    - the Declic or the Paulaner (if you want to see a soccer game)

    And about night-clubs :

    - Le Carré : the big one (but far from downtown)

    - Le Colours

    - L'Opera-Night (40 kms away from Dijon)

Concerning Dijon, you should go first at the Tourism Office (between Darcy Place and train station) to get maps and english guide.

Concerning life in France, it's OK for americans, if you want to speak English try first with young people and speak slowly.

You should also before to leave read or try to get travelling guidebooks for France to know more about french way of life (shopping, restaurants, money, TV, sport, etc).

    Cheers

    Bon voyage
