Diju V, Jwala Gutta rush forward to Mixed Doubles pre quarter-finals – Indonesia Open Update
India’s prime Mixed Doubles duo Diju V-Jwala Gutta proved their class in the opening match against Yoo Yeon Seong-Jang Ye Na and surged into pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open on June 13, 2012.
The victorious duo exhibited admirable skills in this 50-minute battle and ended with a favourable result of 21-14, 11-21 and 16-21.
Now they will test their skills against Chinese couple Tao Jiaming-Xia Huan to secure berth in quarter-finals of the event.
Earlier in first round match, Diju V and Jwala Gutta were little sluggish in the beginning which cost them an opening match point but they made amends in final two games.
On the other hand, the Korean pair could not make best out of their early advantage and crashed out of this Super Series tournament.
World Number 17 duo Yoo Yeon Seong-Jang Ye Na experienced lot of ups and downs in first set of match but they managed to rise on their toes in the end.
They were leading with 4-1 in start but the opposing team dominated six rallies in a row and placed a decent margin of 7-4.
At this stage, Yoo Yeon and Jang Ye showed great chemistry and caught their challengers at 7 before finishing first half with 11-10.
They did not lose their momentum in later part of the game also and took their lead to seven points which proved decisive as they wrapped this segment of the show with 21-14.
However, it was their last success in this contest as the Indians did not give them even a single chance to reinstate their status.
World Number 14 couple Diju V-Jwala Gutta stormed back with a strong reply in second set of the match.
This time they read their competitor’s game early and launched an effective counterattack strategy. They started building pressure from very first shot and reached at 11 before the break.
They played with great precision in later part also and levelled match score with 21-11 margin on the board.
Though, the Indians had to stretch themselves hard in the decider but they stamped their supremacy in all areas of game. They sealed a splendid win by registering concluding figure of 21-16.
