What are the chances that i could have dilated from a 1 to a 3 in a week and half weeks time??? Especially if at my last apt i was 50% effaced, lost my mucous plug and have been having BH contractions every day since

  1. Very good chances... Women in labor, can dilate from a 1 to a 10, in an hour! (Not too common, but it happens.) My sister-in-law had her baby in 3 hours, start to finish! So, over a week and a half, that would be easy.

Congrats on your Jada! I have one (a Jada) on the way, too! ;)

  2. depends i guess.

I went from 1 to 3 centimeters in about 10 hours when labor started and  3-10cm in 5 minutes, so anything is possible.

you can stay dialated for days and days at 1-3 cm...shoudl be soon for you if you are close to your due date.

  3. Unfortunately dilation up to 3cm doesn't mean much in terms of when you will deliver.  Could be three days, could be three weeks.

I was one of those people who wasn't dilated at all - not even 1cm - before my contractions started.  But once they started, it all went really fast - my son was born just over an hour later.  He was two days early.

One thing I can guarantee: that baby will be coming out.  She can't hide in there forever!  So enjoy the last part of your pregnancy as much as possible, and take really good care of yourself - plenty of gentle exercise, yummy healthy food, and as much sleep as you can manage, because you won't be getting much two months from now!

I hope everything goes really well for you.

  4. If you are dialated to a 3 then I am sure that those contractions are not Braxton Hicks but the real thing.  You should be having pretty strong contractions at that point.  And if you have lost your mucus plug then you really need to get the doctor cuz that baby is on its way very soon.

  5. You can dilate really fast. My friend had a baby last month and went from being not dilated at all to 10 in only a few hours! it really just depends on your body. Im 39 weeks and only 1 centimeter so I'll probably be on of those that dilates really quick

  6. I started to dialate at 32 weeks I do have regular contractions but they arent strong enough to affect my baby.  I am now at 37 weeks and just at 3.5 cm and 50 perccent effaced,  if the contractions reach from your right side to your left and are strong together start timing them, if they are 5 mins apart and you have more than 4 in one hour your in labour the early stages of stage 1, if your water breaks head to the hospital.  But if there is no pain just pressure keep an eye on it loosing your mucous plug can mean two things labour is coming any min or its still a few days away.  I have already lost mine but I am being induced on monday anyways so I am not worried if I go.  Check for the following

    1. lots of pressure in the vaginal area

    2. accompanied with lower cramping or back pain

    3. baby movements are less clock them usually at 5-6 per every two hours.

    4. keep an eye on how long the contractions are lasting

    5. Any bloody show, and a trickle or a gush of fluid. (some people mistake this and think you have too loose all your water which isnt true)

    6. try to relax and do your breathing but most important timing your contactions because they could just stop then start up again another day.

    good luck to you!

  7. The chances are good.  Every woman is different, you could be at 1cm at your appointment and then suddenly go into labor the next day or you could get stuck at 3cm for weeks.  It all depends on your body!

  8. Possible.  Not 100%.  You just never know, honestly.  LOL  If this is your first child, I'd say 30%.  If it is your 2nd, maybe 50%?  Your third or fourth, maybe 70%.  You usually really start to dilate when you are completely soft and thin.  You are only 50% of the way there.  Now you're probably 75% effaced and probably 2cm.  That would be my educated guess, though...going by what happens to me each time during prelabor.
