Dilip Vengsarkar sets eyes on Mumbai Cricket Association presidency – Cricket News Update

him.
Vengsarkar and Vilasrao Deshmukh are two strong contestants for the post, for which polling will be conducted on July 15, 2011.
Deshmukh has led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 states twice and also has connections with India’s Congress Party. On the other hand, Vengsarkar not only holds long experience of vice-presidency of MCA, but also holds a strong cricketing background, as he has featured in 116
Test matches and has been serving as skipper from 1987 to 1989.
"A cricketing background allows you to take the right decisions and implement them as well,” said Vengsarkar. 
The former Indian skipper also stressed on implementation of the decision, saying that correct decisions are of no use, when they are not implemented.
"We have to give lot of boost to school cricket, college cricket, and official club cricket. Concentrate a lot on grassroots cricket,” he shared.
There are speculations of political involvement and influence in the polling; however, Deshmukh, said, "Politicians are only looking at the administration part, game development is the job of cricketers and there will be no interference in that.”
Currently, MCA is being run under the presidency of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sharadchandra-Govindrao-Pawar-c89751, who is also the president of the World’s cricket governing body.  The president was fully willing for the re-election but he failed to make his nomination as he was not a resident of Mumbai
or Thane.
According to clause 17 of the MCA constitution, only residents of Mumbai or Thane can become the President of the Association. Pawar has been offering his http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Services-c840 as MCA president since 2001.
Vengsarkar is expected to face immense opposition for the desired post, as Pawar’s group, together with former vice-president, Bal Mahaddalkar's group, is fully supporting Deshmukh.
