The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, has been relieved by his side’s 25-run win over Pakistan in the second One Day International of the ongoing five-match series at Dubai last night. The Lankan all-rounder said that his side
was desperate for win and hoped the team would keep the consistency in the remainder of the series.
"It's a big relief to win, we badly needed to win the match," said Dilshan while talking to the media reporters after his team defeated Pakistan by 25 runs in the second ODI of the series to square the five-match series 1-1.
"It was a fantastic team effort and now we have more confidence for the rest of the matches," he added further.
Sri Lanka, after having lost the three-Test series against Pakistan 0-1, badly collapsed in the ODI series opener as the whole team was bundled out for just 131 as Pakistan won the match by 8 wickets. However, the Islanders made a strong comeback in the
series by beating Misbah and his Men in Green quite comfortably at Dubai Stadium yesterday.
Sri Lanka posted 235 for 7 in their allotted quota of 50 overs with the opening duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397, both scoring half centuries.
Efforts of the openers were well complimented by the pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CRD-Fernando-c1292 both shared two wickets apiece as Pakistan were rolled over for 210 in the 47th over.
Dilshan said that they were 20 runs short of their planned target, however he was happy with the way his bowlers had defended the total.
“We needed to get a start and we got that. We planned for 240 but we were short by about 20 runs,” said Dilshan while talking to the reporters at the post match mediaconference. “The bowlers did a great job...I am happy that our bowling unit did well," he
added.
He also praised veteran batsman, Mahela Jayawardene and hoped the experienced batsman would continue with his good form. He termed Jayawardene and Sangakkara as the assets of Sri Lankan team.
The third ODI of the series will be played on Friday at the same venue.
