Dimitar Berbatov keen to stay with Manchester United – English Premier League news
Bulgarian international and Manchester United striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254, has expressed his desire to prolong his stay at Old Trafford despite being sidelined by Sir Alex Ferguson in some crucial fixtures this season including the UEFA Champions League final
against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
In spite of knowing that he is being overlooked by Ferguson, and being well aware of the interest clubs across Europe have in him, Berbatov is determined to stay with the 19-time English Premier League winners.
Reports indicate that Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United and his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, are desperately looking to take his signature for the next season following his golden boot winning performances in the recently concluded season. Berbatov
got the recognition for his belligerent performances when he was given the Golden Boot award for being the top goal scorer in the 2010/11 English Premier League season. He shared the award with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez as both strikers scored 21 goals each.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player, who penned a four-year-contract with Manchester United in September 2008, believes he still has a lot to offer to the Red Devils.
“I will stay. I will fight for my place and I will fight for title number 20. If I were an easy quitter, I would never have made it this far. Everything at Manchester United starts from scratch for me on 4th July. We will be fighting for new titles. I am
moving ahead. When you go through difficult times, you should not quit” Berbatov added.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Owen-c25355 in substitute role. Ferguson recently handed Owen a one-year contract extension, which is a fair indication of the
fact that Ferguson does not see Berbatov in his future plans.
When asked why he watched the UEFA Champions League final from his dressing room instead of taking to the Wembley stands, Berba revealed that it was would have been embarrassing and painful sitting on the sidelines for the biggest match of the season.
“The truth is that I stayed at the dressing room and watched the Champions League final there, on a TV screen. This was embarrassing for me. I was really disappointed. I was ashamed that I was not part of the team and did not want people to see how sad I
feel” Berbatov clarified.
Berbatov, whose current contract is set to expire in 2012, will hope that Manchester United offer him an extension to his contract.
