Dimitar Kuzmanov slays Sebastien Boltz in the opening round of Boys’ singles – French Open 2011
17-year-old Bulgarian qualifier, Dimitar Kuzmanov, completely blew away Sebastien Boltz of France in the opening round of Boys’ Singles at Roland Garros on Sunday. Kuzmanov devastated the French wildcard entrant in merely 57 minutes
to register an authoritative straight sets victory at 6-0, 6-0, to march on to the next round of the second Grand Slam event of the year.
It was totally a one-sided contest, with the Bulgarian dominating Boltz in every single minute of play. The French proved a complete mismatch to Kuzmanov and failed to put up a fight against the strong opponent. He lost all the
12 games in the contest, dropping serve six times and giving an easy passage to the Bulgarian to the second round of the French Open.
Kuzmanov beat his opponent in every segment of the game, giving him not a single chance to come on top of the game. He held control of the contest right from the beginning and orchestrated most of the rallies to cruise to victory
in less than an hour’s play.
The Bulgarian delivered just 59 per cent of his first serve on target and won 18 out of 20 points on it to take down Boltz. Kuzmanov secured 52 points in the matchup, while the French followed him with just 23 in the entire contest.
The opener took off with Kuzmanov breaking in the very first game to exert early pressure on his bleak opponent. Boltz displayed no form in the contest and kept crumbling under the immense pressure from Kuzmanov, spraying plenty
of errant strokes all over the clay court. His alarmingly high error count wore him out in the competition, marking an end to his voyage at the French Open.
Kuzmanov stung three straight breaks in the opening set to leave Boltz answerless in the game. The Bulgarian sealed the first set at 6-0 to charge into the second set of the contest, where he replicated the similar feat to outclass
Boltz in the game. Kuzmanov kept storming through the second set as well, winning every single game in the set and striking three straight serve breaks to reach match point in no time. He white washed his opponent to seal victory at 6-0, moving into the second
round of Roland Garros.
Up next for Kuzmanov is the fourth seeded Briton, Oliver Golding, who defeated the Mexican qualifier, Luis Patino in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, in the opening round of the French Open.
