Dimitri Payet satisfied with life at LOSC Lille and has no regrets – Ligue 1 news
France international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitri-Payet-c11276 has said that he has no regrets at joining reigning Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille this summer despite being under intense pressure from Joe Cole.
The young winger joined Les Dogues from AS Saint-Etienne in the summer transfer window but his path was blocked due to the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC and his great form
has forced Payet into a somewhat peripheral role at the club.
Before joining LOSC Lille, Payet was on the verge of securing a move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year. However, a move not materialised and later on, the Frenchman joined Lille when the 2010/2011 campaign ended.
Destined to play second fiddle to Joe Cole this season, the youngster is far from worried at his situation. While talking about his role at the club with France Football, Payet said that he was never worried or uncomfortable when Joe Cole arrived at the
club in the final hours of the transfer window.
“I saw his (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694) arrival as an addition to the team. In the three clubs where I went (Nantes, Saint-Etienne, Lille) I have always had to compete. If there is more competition today, it means that I am in a big club. A player like Joe brings us a lot.”
Facing strong competition in Lille, Payet also said that he has never regretted his failed move to PSG. The youngster has always been a PSG fan and it was a bit painful for him to see the move fall off.
“Looking back, I say fortunately I did not join them (PSG) in January. If the Qataris six months later had told me that I was not in their plans, it would have been complicated for me. Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise,” Payet said before claiming that
he is happy to be part of Lille.
Under the tutelage of Rudi Garcia, Lille have become one of the most exciting clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and the increase in competition this season certainly bodes well for a club that won its first Championelle after almost five decades last season.
