Dimitri Sartison surprises with comeback victory over Carlos Caicedo Vernaza – Boxing news
Dimitri Sartison, former WBA super middleweight champion, made his comeback to the ring on Saturday, February 11, 2012, in Hamburg, Germany.
He went one on one against Carlos Caicedo Vernaza and surprisingly scored a knockout victory in the fifth round.
While most were wondering Sartison will take time to settle down, he was at his best right from the start, ending his opponent’s walk with a left hook to the body. As of now, Dimitri Sartison will now face Karoly Balszay in his upcoming bout scheduled for
April 21 for the WBA title.
Karoly, who currently holds the WBA championship, is considered among the best fighters of the division, and he is expected to put up a tough fight against Sartison.
Dimitri Sartison had to go off-scene after a devastating knee injury he suffered due to which he had to vacate his world title. It seems like now the former champion is back on the move and is better and aggressive than ever. This was Dimitri’s second ever
fight in the last two years. His last fight took place in 2011. He vacated his WBA title after two years in November 2011.
Dimitri who has 28 wins, 1 loss and 18 knockouts in his bag was in his best form, exhibiting skills we have never seen before. On the other hand, Carlos, who has 4 wins including 3 knockouts and 4 losses with one draw, gave in his best too but could not
cope up with Dmitri’s rage and fell in the ditch finally.
Dimitri Sartison is a professional boxer who was born in Rudniy, Kazakhstan, but has spent most of his life in Hamburg, Germany. He won his WBA super middleweight title by defeating Stjepan Bozic from Croatia in 2009, on November 21, in Kiel, Germany.
Back then, most analysts were of the view that the hometown advantage he had over his opponent gave him an edge. Similarly, even for this fight most critics are of the view that the hometown advantage made him the better man. Dimitri’s next fight will most
probably not take place in Germany, pressurising the returner to bring out his best.
