Dinara Safina plans to stay fit; returns to practice court for Hobart International

The 24-year-old Dinara Safina of Russia, in an interview on Friday, revealed her plans of staying fit for the WTA tour 2011. The former top ranked Safina says that she will try her level best to stay fit and healthy in order to return to the top position
in the world. Dinara achieved her career highest ranking of world number one back in 2009 during the month of April.
The right hander is currently ranked number 63 in the South African Airways WTA list. She was crowned as the number one player after finishing as a runner up during the French Open in Roland Garros, for the second occasion in a row, in 2009. She remained
at this position for a total of twenty six weeks during the tour.
In 2010, the Russian was hit with a couple of back to back injuries, due to which she couldn’t perform up to mark and her ranking dropped below the top fifty.
However, Safina is now back on the practice court and will take part in the Hobart International. The event is starting next week and will serve as a warm up event to the year’s opening Grand Slam, the Australian Open in Melbourne.
When commenting on her participation in the Hobart International event, the former world number one said, "I will give my best to go to the Aussie Open with some matches under the belt. I will give 100 per cent. I will try to work hard day by day. With these
things I think the ranking will come by itself. Today in the morning I had a good first hit and it was good so I am looking forward to a hit and having a few more practices before the tournament."
The 2011 Hobart International tournament will be held in Australian and will highlight a couple of local up and coming players.
Michael Roberts, who is the director of the competition, commented on the significance of the event by saying, "The Moorilla Hobart International's always been a stepping stone for great players. We are always having stars of the future shining brightly
here in Hobart."
