Ding Junhui books a place in the quarter-finals – 2011 World Snooker Championship
The Chinese Sensation, Ding Junhui, defeated Stuart Bingham by a frame score of 13-12 in the second round of the 2011 World Snooker Championship, which is being staged at the Crucible
Theatre, Sheffield.
It was yet another great comeback from the Chinese top cueist, as he was down by 9-12 before he bounced back into the game, with all of his zeal, energy and strength, to register a 13-12
win over his opponent. This is the first time Junhui has made it to the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship. For the Binginator, Bingham, it was a heart-breaker, as he has also never been able to book a place in the last-8.
However, the overall score-line between both players was 70-80; 38-76 (59); 49-60; 74 (67)-34; 90 (74)-38; 0-101; 79-0; 52-64 (56); 78-38; 37-78 (56); 41-87 (87); 30-73; 93 (93)-1; 75
(75)-46; 61 (61)-72 (72); 91 (91)-4 74-48; 57 (57)-68; 18-101 (101); 88 (88)-0; 0-141 (134); 92(92)-0; 114 (114)-18; 77 (58)-37; 87 (55)-41.
The world number four, Junhui, who was trailing his opponent by 7-9, dominated the first frame in the third session to reduce the deficit at 8-9 before the world number twenty, Bingham,
pocketed the following two frames on a bounce to lead 11-8. He also showcased a classy century break of 101 in the nineteenth frame.
The 24-year-old, Chinese, managed in winning the twentieth with a carving break of 88 before Bingham fired another magnificent 134 to leave his opponent down by three frames with four
to play.
It looked as if the Englishman will book a place in the last-8 but everyone was left flabbergasted when the Chinese completely turned the tables on his head.
He showed nerves of steel and mopped up frame-winning breaks of 92 and 114 to come within one frame at 12-11 and then he also clinched the last two frames after a bout of safety play to
seal his victory.
Ding Junhui has now set up a promising match with the world number three, Mark Selby, in the quarter-final, which is going to be staged today at the Crucible Theatre.
