Ding Junhui ecstatic after winning 2012 Championship League Snooker
Winner of the 2012 Welsh Open snooker tournament at the Newport Centre in Newport, China’s Ding Junhui showed an excellent snooker show at the Crondon Park Golf Club in Stock, England to steal the 2012 Championship League Snooker from the hands of the 2011
UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump. The Chinese grabbed an easy win over the Englishman by the score line of 3-1 at the end of an outstanding final clash.
Junhui began his 2012 Championship League Winners’ Group campaign with impressive performances against Barry Hawkins, Mark Allen, Neil Robertson and Mark Davis. With outstanding form in the event, the Chinese hit the top spot in the points table and made
his way into the playoffs stage of the event.
The Star of the East faced the 2012 Snooker Shootout winner, England’s Barry Hawkins in the semi-final encounter. The penultimate match up was an easy win for the 24-year-old Junhui as he breezed into 3-1 victory in no time. Hawkins was performing well in
the event but he could not continue his form in the semis and tumbled down easily.
Junhui surged into the final contest of the tournament against the former World Snooker Championship runner up, England’s Judd Trump who made his way into the final after beating the 2012 Haikou World Open winner, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen in his semi-final
match. The Junhui-Trump final match was another easy win for the Chinese as he grabbed it with 3-1 scores.
Speaking to the World Snooker after his victory, Junhui said, “I'm very pleased to have won this. It's always good to win but chances to qualify for the Premier League were running out with just the China Open and World Championship to go.”
The Chinese Sensation added, “It's great match practice and my form over the four days this week was good. It's the perfect start to the day, especially in a demanding tournament like this where you are playing from morning until mid-evening.”
The Jiangsu potter went 1-0 ahead after he clinched the first frame pocketing 117 points in the first scrappy frame. Trump took the second to pull level at 1-1 but after that he was not able to claim another because Junhui grabbed the next two to hit the
match triumph by 3-1 and lift the Championship League Snooker trophy.
