Ding Junhui ousts Ali Carter to win 2011 Premier League Snooker 6 at Biddulph Leisure Centre
China’s Ding Junhui dominated the Biddulph Leisure Centre arena in Stoke-on-Trent, as he played outstandingly well against England’s Ali Carter and nudged him down 3-1, in the final match up of the 2011 PartyPoker.com Premier League Snooker 6. The Chinese
completely unsettled his English opponent with some excellent snooker shots during the best-of-five frames final game.
The final competition was completely overtaken by The Chinese Sensation, as he clinched three consecutive frames to oust Carter. Carter took the first frame by 0-96 to lead early in the match but after that, the Englishman could not win any frame and lost
to Junhui, 3-1. The 24-year-old Junhui potted cracking knocks of 38, 45 and 66 to lift the 2011 Premier League Snooker 6 title.
World Number Six ranked cueist, Ding Junhui, spoke to the media and said, “I'm just pleased to be at the top of the table. This is a tricky format and it's important to win your first match, but really I needed to win both games tonight and I did.”
The Jiangsu potter added, “I play Neil Robertson in my final night in Southampton so I must really focus on that one. Winning the Premier League is something that all the top players have done so I want to add my name to that list.”
Star of the East, Junhui, faced former People’s Champion, Jimmy White, in their semi-final clash where he gave a tough time to the veteran and after a thrilling encounter, he was able to beat him by the score line of 3-2 in the end. Junhui smashed stunning
knocks of 31, 56 and 37 to hit the winning spot at the conclusion of the penultimate final.
On the other hand, the Englishman faced Welshman, Mark Williams, in the semi-final of the competition. Their semi-final match was not an easy one, as both potters played outstandingly in best-of-five frames game and pulled level at 2-2 before Carter won
the decider frame 84-0 to grab the semi-final by 3-2. He pocketed some remarkable knocks of 47, 34, 31 and 41, respectively.
