Ding Junhui prefers playing in China: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open – Snooker Update
Winner of the 2012 Welsh Open winner, China’s Ding Junhui cruised into the second round of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament after beating the Scotsman Alan McManus by the score line of 5-0 in the first round encounter at the Bendigo
Stadium arena in Victoria, Australia.
The Chinese potter did give any chance to the Scotsman to take control of the proceedings and dominated the baize taking advantage of his mistakes.
After crashing out of 2012 Wuxi Classic, the Chinese cueman was quite upset because he was the only hope for the Chinese fans. Maybe the pressure of the home crowed troubled him during the event and he failed to handle the pressure. However, the playing
conditions were different at Bendigo and Junhui did not feel any pressure but regardless of that the Chinese player still prefers playing in China.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Junhui said, “I don't think it's true that I prefer to play outside of China. Sometimes the weather there is not so good for snooker, so on the tables the balls play very heavy. I don't play like Judd Trump,
if he runs out of position he can still pot.”
He added, “I think that we play in a different way, I like to control the white. But when the weather's no good, very humid, the white is difficult to control.”
Despite firing a superb knock of 62 in the opening frame of the match, the Scot was unable to unsettle his opponent as Junhui claimed the first frame victory to get a 1-0 lead. After that it was an all Junhui-show as the Chinese Sensation swept the table
in the next three frames in no time and pushed his opponent 4-0 down at the end of the first session.
McManus was under immense pressure because he was four frames down against a potter like Junhui. He had no clue how to get back into the game and the Star of the East cashed this psychological advantage as he dominated the table in the fifth frame to ensure
his victory and entry in the second round.
