Ding Junhui whitewashes Alan McManus to book second round place: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Final proceedings of the first round of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open snooker tournament are underway at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria.
In one of the first round clashes, winner of the 2012 Welsh Open snooker event, China’s Ding Junhui was able to defeat the Scottish potter Alan McManus by the score line of 5-0 to book his place in the second round of the event.
After crashing out of 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament in the initial stages, despite being the home favourite, Junhui was feeling quite disappointed and upset about that. Meanwhile, he built some courage up his sleeves and with full confidence he headed
to Australia so that he can prove his class once again and regain his good form.
As expected, the clash was completely dominated by the Chinese potter as he cruised into the 5-0 victory in no time during his encounter run. The Scotsman, on the other hand, did not have any chance to capitalise back into the game and tumbled down quite
easily to finish his run. Junhui was feeling quite satisfied after winning his first game. He must be looking forward to making an appearance in the upcoming snooker matches.
While speaking to World Snooker after his victory, Junhui said, “I played well. I practised hard and I'm feeling good. When I played in the Wuxi Classic I didn't feel good. I like it here, the weather's very dry which is good for snooker and the cloth is
very fast. The tables are very nice.”
The Star of the East added, “I hadn't played Alan before, I know that he is a very good safety player. He missed a couple of balls, easy ones, and left me easy chances to take the frame. I have played Peter Ebdon many times, and we have practised a lot before.”
Junhui will face the former World Snooker championship winner, England’s Peter Ebdon in the second round of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open. The encounter will be quite thrilling and interesting because both cuemen have played well in their first round
games. The fans will be looking forward to his tremendous battle.
