I just got my first surfboard, and unfortunately my friend put a small ding in the bottom of the board when putting it on the roof carrier. Its about 1/4" deep, perfectly circular, and about the size of a dime. Can I fix it by just sanding and adding resin? Do I need to use fiberglass fabric?

Thanks in Advance!!

  1. You should be able to just sand it and use resin, it doesnt sound too bad. You can use fabric if you want but I think you will be ok..Hope this helps...

  2. If it's that small then...

Sun Cure fiberfill resin or Ding All Quik Stik epoxy putty or use regular polyester resin. For the proper steps on how to do it yourself, please have a look at:

  3. You should fill the ding with a quick cure sanding resin first.  If you can get UV cure resin, that works best.  Fill it, then sand it.

Then, if you want the full ding repair, cut out some fiberglass fabric and lay it on with more resin.  Sand smooth, and you're good to go!

Either way, you'll be alright.  With or without the fabric.  But like I said, if you want the FULL repair, use the fiberglass.

  4. you can easily fix a small ding like that, go to ur local surf shop and get this stuff called solarez and its fiberglass in a tube so you can fix the ding your self
