Dinko Jukic wins Men’s 200m butterfly heats: Day three – 2011 FINA World Championships
Dinko Jukic of Austria won the preliminary rounds of Men’s 200m butterfly meet on day three of the ongoing Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) organised 2011 World Championships on Tuesday, July 26, in Shanghai, China.
Jukic conquered the top qualification spot in the semi-finals, by submitting a wonderful effort of 1 minute and 55.26 seconds in the qualifying rounds. His time was nearly four seconds away from the championship and world mark of 1 minute and 51.51 seconds,
made by American swimmer, Michael Phelps at the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
He was trailed by Leonardo De Deus of Brazil, who stayed only 0.29 seconds behind his preceding swimmer and entered the next round as the second fastest swimmer, with a timing of 1 minute and 55.55 seconds. In the same manner, Bence Biczo of Hungary transpired
as the third best qualifying swimmer of the event, by reporting in a time of 1 minute and 55.71 seconds.
Biczo was 0.24 seconds faster than his subsequent swimmer, Scott Clary of USA, as he completed his swim in a fourth fastest time of 1 minute and 55.95 seconds. Clary edged out his following swimmer, Takeshi Matsuda, with a slight difference of 0.03 seconds.
Matsuda claimed the fifth best qualification spot of the event by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.98 seconds.
Yin Chen of China was the sixth fastest swimmer of the first round, as he ended his four-lap swim in a time of 1 minute and 56.23 seconds. Chen was followed by South African swimmer, Chad Le Clos, who stayed only 0.14 seconds behind and reached the semi-finals
for the seventh best qualification spot in a time of 1 minute and 56.37 seconds. He was followed by Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, who secured the eighth qualifying spot, with a timing of 1 minute and 56.39 seconds.
The arena was amazed with the efforts of all competitors in the respective meet, while the winners will be awarded with medals and accolades after the completion of the final round.
