Dinkum Diamond to stamp the seasonal debut in the Betfred “Goals Galore” Conditions Stakes at Nottingham
Nottingham is to become home for the Class 3 Betfred “Goals Galore” Conditions Stakes over five furlongs and thirteen yards on Wednesday, 11th April. Taking part in the race that has the purse worth £6, 412 is the lineup of six three-year and
older thoroughbreds.
None on the lineup have raced at Nottingham at least during the last year and all are to race their seasonal debuts today.
Dinkum Diamond, Aussie Rules’ four-year-old bay colt out of mare Moving Diamonds, has a relatively interesting record for the previous year as compared to the rest.
Seven of his outings beginning from 14th April 2011 to 17th September 2011, did not see him driving down the third position rather he claimed one of the races in between that also when entered as the evening’s favourite.
On 13th May, he was sent as the evening’s favourite in the Whitman Howard Investment Bank Carnarvon Stakes (Listed Race) at Newbury over six furlongs.
He could not win the race but finished a decent third behind the winner, Elzaam and the runner up, Cape To Rio. Dinkum Diamond had Dane O’Neill riding him.
He claimed the fourth start of the season that came in the form of the NGK Spark Plugs Conditions Stakes on 15th July at Newmarket over five furlongs. Entered as the evening’s favourite for a straight second time, Dinkum Diamond won the race with
William Buick while leading by 1 ¼ lengths.
Finishing the closest to the winner was Five Star Junior and reserving the third position was Piccadilly Filly.
This was the only victory that the four-year-old bagged during the previous season.
The 3/1 favourite of the Totepool Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (Listed Race), Dinkum Diamond, finished third on 27th August at Beverley over five furlongs.
The race was won by Tangerine Trees while qualifying as the runner up was Duchess Dora who missed the victory by a neck’s margin.
The six-year-old Jonny Mudball can come as a pleasant surprise as today is his first race after the injury that he endured. All the entries for the race are well rested and have reasonable amount of experience which can make it challenging for Dinkum Diamond
to get the race going for him.
