  2. Since it's summer and hot ouside how about build your own sub sandwhiches with pasta salad and punch or fresh lemonade.

  3. I would create one main dish like a roasted chicken if you eat meat. Or serve a nice grilled fish... and several side dishes. A starch, and of course a simple salad. Appetizers are great like hummus or vegetable dips...I used an idea I got from Rachael Rays cook book...for my dinner party. I made chicken pesto pasta, a cobb salad and crusty bread rubbed with garlic and brushed with olive oil...And for dessert I served a really fresh peach cobbler and tea...It was so nice. An easy drink to make with is any frozen juice you choose put it in the blender with ice and add club soda with a little vodka if you drink or virgin if you don't drink...You can decorate your table with so many cute ideas well depending on the theme you choose... Good luck LW

  4. The summer of my junior year I catered several parties for my neighbor. Here are a few things I thought might help.

    Tips for budget get togethers.

      1. Avoid meal time. If you party falls during lunch or dinner hours you will need to provied more food.

      2. Homemade foods is much less expensive. For example buying pinwheel wraps can cost you $10-15 but making them will only cost you around $5-6.

      3. Keep it elegantly simple. As this is your first party wanting to go all out is normal but keeping it simple is cheaper and much less stressful.

Make homemade cookies this can be done a few days in advance. The best recipes are onthe back of the chocolate chip packages and peanut butter jar.

Skip the full deli tray for sliced cheese & mini cheese balls with crackers. These are a bit time consuming but they look really cute and everyone gets there own.

       Mini Cheese Balls

       2 pkg. Cream Cheese, softened

8 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese

       1 tsp. garlic powder

       Dash ground red pepper

       1/4 cup chopped green onions

       1-2/3 cups Chopped Pecans

Beat cream cheese, shredded cheese, spices and onions until well blended. Cover and refrigerate several hours or until chilled. Shape each cheese mixture into 24 balls, each about 1 inch in diameter. Roll in pecans. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.  Serve with Ritz crackers.

Lemonaid is and water are great drinks and they are inexpensive. To make it look nice place the lemonaid in a glass bowl or pitcher and add a few lemon slices.
