Dinner etiquette?

I have recently started dating someone I am really quite keen on. She has asked me over to her house this weekend for dinner and I would like to make a good impression. I will take a nice bottle of wine, but should I take anything else with me?

  1. that's so sweet.Last chap who came over to mine for dinner just bought condoms.Where has the romance gone?

  2. do something different i say when you go pick out the wine pick up a couple of kool new wine glasses and present her with them when you give her the wine  !    this will be memorable for her and you ! and you never know what might happen on your next date !LOL! :) good luck !

  3. You could take her some nice flowers. Everyone like flowers. That should make a good impression.

  4. How about a simple candlestick from the pound shop, with a nice candle. There you go, good luck! She should like that.

  5. Wine is a perfect gift to bring to dinner.  Other foods may not be appreciated by your host or hostess since they established the menu.  Flowers are also nice to bring.  Bring your best conversation, your best manners, and enjoy the occasion.  Be the best guest you can be, and you'll likely be asked again!

  6. A nice summer bouquet (no roses - just yet!) would be very nice. Hope all goes well.

  7. A bottle of wine and flowers are always a good combination.

  8. Much of that depends on if she lives alone or with her parents.

If alone, a bunch of flowers would be enough, if she lives with her folks, try to get her mother, who will be your hostess a little posy to thank her for the invitation.

  9. Defo some flowers too.

  10. Some flowers or a plant, but better the flowers.  Do not give carnations as they represent death.  Red roses would be too full on.  Maybe yellow or other pastel shades of flower.  yellow means peace.  And for heavens sake take the price off and the wrapping if it comes from a garage - though best not go there.

  11. Flowers are always nice, but if she' like me she may have allergies so find out first.  But if she has pets, like I do if you bring a really cute chew toy for her dog or cat you might just totally win her heart.

  12. no that's good .maybe a Hardon but keep that in your  pocket until the right time  ...good luck

  13. clothes lol

flowers (if hayfever get synthetic ones)

    chocolates

    change wine for champagne

  14. If she lives alone,  bring her flowers.  If she lives with her parents, bring her mother and her flowers and her father the bottle of wine.

You don't need to take anything else with you, the flowers are more than enough, it's a very sweet gesture!  If you want to bring dessert, you can do that, but I would ask if you plan to do that, she may be working hard on making something special for you.  If you do that, ask first!  The flowers are plenty though and she WILL appreciate them!

Just remember, during dinner,  pull out her chair for her, and don't start eating until everyone is seated and your host begins to eat.  If she says anything, just say you're waiting for her to start.   You are the one also to pour her glass of wine for her.

I hope the dinner goes well, just be yourself, you sound very sweet, for you to want to bring something on your own is a very sweet thing to do and as long as you're being yourself, you'll do fine!  Have fun!!

  15. Flowers maybe? Always a nice gift.
