Dinner in Paris New Years Eve?

Can anyone suggest a nice restaurant for New Years Eve near/around Eiffel Tower?

Don't go there ... go to Saint Germain or something. The Eiffel Tower is not really in a neighbourhood ... more like a park next to the river.

However, if you go to Rue Soufflot on this map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&ge... there are a few nice cafes where you can have dinner, and the Eiffel Tower will be visible right over the Jardin du Luxembourg.

I would tend to agree with the answer above. Stay away from the Eiffel Tower, you can see it from a distance from other parts of Paris.

Bu if you really want a good panoramic view of the Tower to see the fireworks, expect to spend 250 € to 300 € per person for a New Year's Eve dinner, or St-Sylvestre as we call it. That night, special dinners are 6 or 7-course meals and are always very expensive. They include drinks, entertainment, musicians or DJ, etc though, not just the food & service. The following restaurant has a great view so you won't miss the fireworks:

Another option is dining on a cruise boat on the Seine. Several places do it but make sure that to ask them if you will be within sight of the Tower during the fireworks. Also, ask what kind of ambience they have: some have classical music, others DJ's playing party music. Here is one:

If you stay away from the Tower and fancy areas, you can also find a lot of nice restaurants that will have a St Sylvestre menu for around 80 €. In any case, book early!

Check restaurants in surrounding towns west of Paris, like Boulogne for instance, from which you can see the Eiffel Tower nearby.

How about dinner IN the Eiffel Tower?  

The restaurant "Jules Verne" is in the Eiffel Tower itself, and it has three Michelin stars.  It will set you back a pretty penny, but you'll have an extraordinary meal.
