  1. I agree,  that green lettuce salad thing is so American.   Why Australia feels the need to go down that track is stupid.   I love a real salad...   If I want to eat lettuce.. I'll go to the supermarket and buy one and stay home.

  2. Restaurant salads suck. Make your own or go to a salad buffet where you get to choose.

  3. i like a nice garden salad too not a bowl of rabbit food with oil poured all over it

i always tell them what I want (real salad with no muck on it)if they don't have it i go elsewhere but 9/10 times they will make it

  4. obviously you haven't moved with the times!

  5. Because everybody tried to get all funky and modern with the salads. Don't mess with the salads!

Novelty lettuce generally has more flavour (whether it's for better or worse) and is visually more appealing. Also, buying the coloured stuff is cheaper and more convenient as it generally comes bagged, washed and cut (even in bulk) while regular lettuce comes in a head, full of bugs and brown bits and at a higher price. A regular iceberg lettuce is $2.47 at Woolies! And wholesale they're still $1.60-$1.80 depending where you buy.
