Question:

Dinning room attire questions?

by  |  earlier

I have read that 'shorts' and 'tank tops' are not allowed in the dinning rooms. I have a few questions:

1) Is that only at night at dinner? Or does that include breakfast and lunch too?

2) I have really dressy capris are those allowed?

3) All my dresses are sleeveless is that going to be allowed?

Thanks for your help!

  1. casual is fine for the daytime. Nighttime they want a nice pair of slacks(or dressy capris) with a blouse.

yes sleeveless dresses are fine.  have a great trip.

  2. Shorts and jeans are perfectly acceptable for breakfast and lunch.  For dinner, the dress is usually "resort casual" which means slacks and shirts with collars for the guys and sundresses or slacks and blouses for women.  Dressy capri's wouldn't be correct but they probably wouldn't kick you out.  Jeans in the dining room for dinner are not acceptable either - nor are t-shirts.  The Maitre 'd can deny you entry to the dining room if you are not properly dressed.

    Sleeveless dresses are perfectly fine.

For the Captains party, it is formal.  Men are expected to wear dark suits and ties and women wear evening dress.

  3. Also, that dress code for dinner only applies to the dining room.  You can still get great food at the casual buffet eatery at dinner and wear your shorts.

Don't miss out on the dining room because of the dress code.  They have some awesome meals at dinner.

Take a light sweater.  The dining room can be very cool in the evening.

If you try an item on the menu and don't like it, ask the server for something else. They are glad to exchange your meal to ensure you have a wonderful experience.

However, if you plan to eat dinner in the dining room, arrive at or close to the dinner start time. Especially if you have the early seating. You will get your meal quicker...

  4. depends on what cruise you go on.  NCL will permit hawaian shirts for men in the dining room and bermuda shorts / since these are considered formal attire in those places even if you are sailing in the carib.

in the dining room on ncl / you can wear anything but shorts unless they are burmuda.

other lines, princess , royal , do not allow any type of shorts. you can get in with dark jeans / sundresses.

at lunch you can't wear bathing suits except on the deck/ buffet.

sleeveless dresses are fine / but you may want a light shawl / light weight silk sweater as they blast the ac.   no worries for dinner with dressy capris.

formal night you can wear a dress / flip flops if you like / your hubby can wear tux / flip flops or he can wear a white shirt tie and dark slacks.  you can dress up as much as you like or be as casual.  THIS IS YOUR VACATION.  Enjoy yourself

    have a great time.

  5. No shorts or tank tops at dinner only lunch and breakfast casual is fine. Capris are good if they're the dressy kind no cargo ones though. Any dresses are appropriate for dinner. Go with cocktail or formal dresses for formal night. bon voyage.
