The Bianconeri legend has praised the club for contacting the Brescia goalkeeper, but insists that the youngster should be given more playing time.
Former Juventus goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dino-c11319 Zoff, has hailed his former employers for placing an offer for Brescia Calcio glove-man, Nicola Leali.
The youngster is tipped as long-term replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833, but Zoff believes that the goalkeeper should be given time to prove his worth. The Lady Killers are closing in on the highly-rated youngster, and it is believed
that a deal will be finalized by the end of this week.
However, reports suggest that the shot-stopper will spend the remainder of the season with the White-Blues, and will join Juve in the summer.
Zoff believes that the youngster has shown immense promise at this young age, and he needs to continue playing regular football in order to polish his skills.
While talking to La Stampa, the Italian legend insisted,
“He’s a promising youngster. When you buy a player of that age then you are trying to secure the future.
Leali has already won comparisons with Gianluigi Buffon, but Zoff insists that the rookie star should not get carried away and he must continue the hard-work. The 69-year-old insisted that the youngster will be lucky to have a
mentor like Buffon, and he will learn a lot from the veteran shot-stopper.
“We shouldn’t get carried away though. I’ve already heard comparisons with Gigi Buffon and it’ll be important for the boy to see a champion like that up close and personal. However, there is no doubt that it is always preferable
if a youngster gets the opportunity to play,” added the former Juve boss.
With Buffon turning 34 this month, Leali might replace the legendary goalkeeper as the number one for his club and country in a couple of years.
The 18-year-old is also linked with a host of foreign clubs including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City. The Catalans have scouted him on numerous occasions this season and it is believed that they are preparing a
January offer.
