After I fire a round through my 25-06 when I eject the cases most of the time there is a dint in the shoulder of the case. What causes this to happen? If I reload with the dinted case will it affect the next shots accuracy (performance)? How can I fix this problem? the rifle is a sako 85

  1. Most case dents are caused by the case striking the ejection port upon ejection. If you eject one slowly and watch, you may be able to see what it hits, and maybe not.

Nothing to worry about though, when it is fired the case will straighten out from the pressure.

  2. dents in the case after firing can often be caused by case lube left on the case after reloading. be sure and clean the cases if you reload. a foreign oblect or dirt in the chamber might also be the cause.

  3. One other thing to look at is sometimes upon ejecting the spent case, it impacts the side of the receiver causing a small dent. Look closely at your rifle's receiver for any brass marks from this happening, or even try ejecting a spent case and watching or listening for this. You could try ejecting them and see if it puts another dent in an empty case also.

My CZ has a bunch of brass colored marks on the rear part of the receiver from this happening.
