Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka ousts Sho Zeniya in second round at Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold
Indonesia’s talented player Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka showed his impressive craft and surged into Men’s Singles round-of-16 after defeating Japan’s Sho Zeniya in second round contest at Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton 2012 on Wednesday, September
26, in Indonesia.
The World Number 19 Rumbaka, who has been placed at number four in Men’s Singles main draw in the championship, worked hard and remained successful in getting rid of his talented Japanese challenger in a decent fashion.
Rumbaka had to play to his maximum potential and he employed all of his skills to overpower his un-seeded opponent who played tremendous badminton all the way.
The Indonesian shuttler controlled the pace at the right time and managed to win the match in straight games with a tight margin in 40 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Zeniya displayed his remarkable skills and proved to be a tough nut to crack for his higher ranked local challenger.
The Japanese player put up great resistance but failed to control the pace in the ending points and lost the match with a tight margin in straight sets.
The opening game, Rumbaka was in complete control of rallies as he easily dictated the pace and pushed his un-seeded opponent in all areas of the court which helped him to set up an 11-4 lead on score board in first half.
After the one-minute break, Zeniya played better badminton and started to close the huge gap but remained unable to stop his rival from winning the set with a tight margin of 21-19.
However, the second game absolutely stunning for the local shuttler as Zeniya played impressive badminton this time and took a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the end of opening part.
After the break, Japanese shuttler continued playing in a dominating fashion and reached at 20-18 when he lost his control.
In the meanwhile, Rumbaka geared up his speed in the ending points and scored four consecutive points to snatch the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
Rumbaka managed to win this second round contest in 40 minutes with a tight margin of 21-19 and 22-20.
