Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka punishes Ben Beckman in Men’s Singles showdown at Thomas Cup Finals
Indonesia’s Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka was impressive in his first clash when he slaughtered England’s Ben Beckman at the Thomas Cup Finals 2012 on Monday, May 21, at Wuhan, China.
Rumbaka, who has been ranked at number 22 in Men’s Singles world placements, put up thrilling show and easily overpowered his lower ranked English opponent in straight sets with a one-sided margin.
The higher ranked Rumbaka was in his prime form as he faced not trouble at all from his rival and ended up the battle in two sets while working in the court for just 30 minutes.
On the other hand, Beckman was no match to Rumbaka as the English shuttler lacked the impressive touch in his shots and also failed to match the class of his rival.
He lost this straight-set battle in just 30 minutes without taking any game from his Indonesian opponent.
In the first set, both shuttlers played with aggression and also progressed closely in the opening rallies.
However, Rumbaka took over the control by changing his tactics and started to dictate his rival in the court.
Until the mid-game interval, it was Rumbaka who showed his elevated class and set up a striking lead o 11-6 on the board.
After the break, the Indonesian continued putting up convincing show without dropping his speed and also maintained his upper hand over his lower ranked English opponent.
Rumbaka remained positive and composed throughout the opening set and bagged it with a staggering margin of 21-11.
In the following set, Beckman played slightly better badminton as he matched the pace of rallies and also remained toe-to-toe until the score reached at 8-8.
At this stage, Rumbaka geared up his speed and managed an 11-8 lead on the score board until the mid-game break.
After the break, the Indonesian extended his lead by playing attacking badminton and also maintained pressure on his English rival.
He remained fully focused and positive in the court and managed to win the contest with a margin of 21-13.
Rumbaka emerged as the winner against Beckman in two sets by a tremendous 21-11 and 21-13 score on the board.
