Diplomatic to grab the UK Homes For Heroes Handicap at Kempton
The Class 6 UK Homes For Heroes Handicap will be hosted by Kempton over seven furlongs on Tuesday, 22nd May. From among the line-up of fourteen, Saucy Buck, Diplomatic, Gallantry and Rise To Glory have raced and won there during the new season already.
The prize money set for the winner is 1,617.
Diplomatic, Cape Cross’ seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Embassy, has been racing at Kempton ever since the new season began. The first two tries were wins while the next two were second scores.
His final race of the previous season was at Kempton too but he could not make much out of the chance.
His 2012 campaign began with a win in the 32Red Casino Handicap on 22nd January over seven furlongs. Riding with Luke Morris, he led the runner up of the race, Rightcar, by a length.
The evening’s favourite of the race, Shaunas Spirit, ended fourth on the track of thirteen.
He then captured the very next start that was in the £32 Free At 32Red.Com Handicap on 16th February over seven furlongs. Diplomatic was the 3/1 favourite winner of the race with ¾ of a length under his charge.
Settling the closest to the winner was Blueberry Fizz and taking up the third slot behind the winner was Olynard.
The third outing of the season, the Kempton Park (Supported By Betfair) Handicap on 20th March over seven furlongs was to guarantee a seasonal hat trick for Diplomatic but he failed to capture the race.
The 13/8 favourite runner up of the race finished at a four lengths’ distance from the winner, Spin Again.
Coming at terms with the third position was Fortunate Bid.
The fourth venture of the season did see Diplomatic being entered as the favourite of the 32Redpoker.Com Handicap on 29th March over a mile.
This time again, he qualified as the runner up after the winner, Saucy Buck, led by a mere half length.
Diplomatic will race the fifth outing of the season and a straight sixth at Kempton today. He needs to bring into use the racing experience there and make the most out of the chance today.
