I'm having directv installed on my main floor...wondering if there is any need for installers to go up to the attic or basement or just the roof/main floor?

  1. They will have to install a dish in a position where it can get an unobstructed view of the southern sky.  A cable will have to be run between the dish and where the receiver is installed.

If they can run the cable without entering those areas, then they won't need to go there.  I have Dish Network, the installers ran the cable on the outside of my house and drilled a small hole in the wall near the receiver to bring the cable inside.  They didn't need to go anywhere except on the roof.

  2. If its only goin to the main floor and you have no plans to hook up any where else in the home in the future, have them go the most direct route. from the dish to where your current cable line is.
