Question:

Direct Deposit never made it into my account - help!

this is the first time in 12 years that my direct deposit did not get deposited into my checking account.

it's too early to contact anyone at the company (it's 5am) so I'm asking this question here.

Like a lot of people, I live paycheck to paycheck. I have automated bill payments that are due today that will result in quite a few overdraft fees. Who is responisble for those fees? Can I demand that my company pay me the fees for their mistake? I received my stub two days ago with a deposit date of 8/1/08 - deposits from payroll are made at midnight on my payday - so basically it is supposed to be there right now (this is the norm for the past 12 years). I'm so upset and just need some answers as to what I can do.

  1. If you are charged fees, you can blame, and receive money from, whoever is responsible. It could be your company, or it could be the bank. This doesn't mean they'll want to pay, but legally, if they lay you with unexpected expenses as a result of their mistake, they have to pay you back. Just wait until it's late enough to call people, call, and explain everything. Once you get to the bottom of the problem, you'll feel better. Hope everything goes well! Good Luck!
