Question:

Direct TV - upgrading to a DVR?

We have DTV right now but the regular boxes. I *really* want to be able to record on one of the boxes b/c all the shows I like come on really late and I need to go to bed early LOL It just seems like a waste to have the service but only get to watch your favorite shows occasionally. I thought maybe you could upgrade the equipment and they would distribute the cost in small amounts over a certain number of bills but online it looks like you have to buy it outright. I got 4 boxes free when I signed up, I've had DTV for over 2 years .... NOW I have to pay for a box? That doesn't seem quite right to me LOL Is this correct or am I missing information?

Also, how does DVR work. How many shows can I set it to record and do I have to do it each time or can I set it to record several shows each week? How long will it keep them before erasing them? Can I watch one show and record another?

TIA

  1. this is huge

  2. Ok this i know....you have to pay $99 + $19.95 for s&h plus tax for each receiver all paid up front with a credit card. Plus you have to sign another 2 year contract when you upgrade regardless of how long you were a customer. You can record 1 and watch another but you have to have an additional line ran in. They hold about 100 hours of programming. And as long as it is not pay per views it will not erase until it is full and then you will need to delete. hope this helps...This is all fact...I am an recently ex employee of dtv
