  1. well is best to shop around .. sometime the private company offer cheaper premium too .. and less hasle when you have any claim

  2. Not at all. No one can beat Tesco car insurance. I insured a 2.2 Liter engine 8 seater van plus 2 year no claim discount for only less than £300 a year. I took qoutes from the others including direct line and gave me prices ranging from £400 to £600 a year.

  3. They're usually pretty good, but go to http://www.confused.com & let them do the comparison.

  4. Phone around or use one of the websites to get quotes.

All the figures that have been quoted previously are pointless as no-one has the same driving record, which is the primary consideration by insurance companies in giving you a quote.

Don't forget to compare what you get before deciding on a policy.

What may look cheap won't be if in the event of a claim you are left to wait for the insurance companies to sort out any claim.  Paying a little extra and having a courtesy car available and fast claims service is certainly more preferable in my mind.

  5. Up until last year I never shopped around, and assumed (wrongly I know) that my insurance company Id been with for ten years would be cheaper.

Switched to direct line and instantly saved £200+.

    Kwik Fit - £380.00

    Direct Line - £169.00

    Now thats a whopping difference.

  6. what is good and cheap for one person may not be for another. i work for an insurance broker. what you must understand is insurers take all details into account when doing a quote for you so it differs from person to person. some insurers are cheaper on certain postcodes, vehicles, age of drivers, claims experience etc. insurers each have a certain market that they want to attract. therefore, you and your next door neighbour with the same car could get quotes from the same insurer, but yours be £500 dearer because you are 5 yrs younger and that isnt the market they are after etc...you are better off searching a wide line of insurers to get the best deal on your circumstances. try confused.com as they search a wide market for you.

  7. i would, my brother is on direct line. was the cheapest one we could find.

Get it online and you get it cheaper, its easy to get a quote too.
