  1. I have Directv, and will NEVER go back to cable.

I pay $44.95 a month for the service, plus I have 3 extra receivers at $5 per month each.  So my bill is $59.95 a month for the 4 TVs in my house.

I get my local channels, plus way more channels than my local cable company provides, including NFL Network.

The service is rarely interrupted, and if it is, it's only for a few minutes.  Unlike cable, where you have to wait for hours for the repairman to restore service.

  2. I have Dish but pay I think about 40 a month, originally I had all the channels but found I only really watched and recorded the regular television so I dropped it back to the America 100 which is a signed up cable package with all of the local stations. Mine is wrapped in my home phone service along like my dad's ( he has AT&T and I have Embarq) we both have DSL unlimited long distance and the satellite wrapped in the same bill. It save ne money with the long distance charges as I was able to dump the huge plan I had with Verizon and reduce it to a more reasonable one.

You might try giving your telephone conpany a call and ask what they offer it may surprise you.

As far as disconnect you sign a contract for X number of months and lease the eqhipmnent I suppose at the end of term if you so desire, you can terminate the lease and they will get the dish and box. If you move you just take the box and they bring the dish.
