DirectTV reveiver problems...?

I went to Utah last weekend from saturday till Sunday night.

When I came back my t.v wasnt getting any signal..like the whole ants on the screen thing. Its been a week and ive tried everything from unplugging the wires and replugging them in,to the whole hold the reset button for 15 seconds. The reciever is on and working. it turns on and off. but its like its not hooked up to the t.v even though it is. yes I did take out the access card but that was after it wasnt working...and No I havnt called DirecTV yet. My mom says she'll do it but im really annoyed and I just want it fixed now...So does anyone have any idea why its doing this and what I can do?

First you should check to make sure you have the TV on the correct input.  If that is not the problem, try connecting the receiver to the TV with different type (or new) cable.  If you have another TV in the house, you could try to connect that receiver to it.  If it works on that TV, then its not a problem with the receiver.

Go to settings and check your signal strength. It could be that the dish is out of alignment.
