Directly capture your TV screen?

Is there any type of software that can capture your TV screen? For example, I want to perform something in a video game (on a PS2), capture it, and use it in a video I'm making. Is there a good way I can do this?

You will need to have something like a personal video recorder (PVR) that can record the game on a DVD.  Once you have a DVD, there is "frame grabber" software that will capture a still image from the video.
