I have an HD tv and a Tivo that i paid cash for a couple years ago.One of the satelite providers tha DIRECT_ly do TV had an upgrade promotion going and i saw an add on the tv and called the 800 number to enquire about it.

I told them i alreadt have a Tivo, they said they had a swap program,i said no thanks i would like to kepp mine as i paid for it already. They suggested to put it in another room.

I said ok what is the upgrade. They said i would get a 5LNB dish.better than the 3 i had, that also come with our direct DVR and we will have them install your Tivo in another room.

I explained to them i was an existing costumer, and asked how much would this run? They said"it's a free upgrade" i asked "afree upgrade"?They answered yes.

I stated that my bill ran around 49.99 a month and i want to stay around that area. They Direct-ly told me,that it would go up a few dollars for the extra HD channels i would get, around 52.99 a month. In short a free up cost me 200.00 on my bill. Now what??

  1. With this company, the only representative that will try to resolve this is a "Case Manager".  When you call, don't bother trying to get the customer service rep to help, they won't do anything for you.  Simply ask to have a Case Manager call you back.  They will usually call back in an hour or two.  I've had a couple issues which were solved quickly in this manner.

  2. The upgrade is free, but you paid for the labor to install it; although $200 is a bit much (It is usually $100 per visit).

    Call and complain.
