Directv R15 DVR Boot-up problem

I restarted my receiver, and it started restarting. Then, it said that it was checking disk. It did this for about 15-20 min. Then, it said it was starting up, but came up with a message stating that a problem had occurred, please unplug for 1 min. I did this 3 times, to no success. I called Directv, but they just wanted to lease me another one. My current receiver is payed for, not rented, so it makes no sense to lease another one, especially when you're 14. Can someone please help me? Thanks.
