Dirk Kuyt plans to return against Chelsea
Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt is planning to return to action against Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League.
Kuyt picked up an ankle ligament injury while he was away with Holland last month. The Dutchman says he's been working tirelessly in the treatment room to get himself ready for action earlier than expected.
"It depends on how the next couple of days go.
Hopefully the team training will be okay and at the end of the day it will be up to the manager.
I have worked really hard with the medical team," said Kuyt.
This is very good news for Liverpool because Kuyt can add a lot of quality to the team that has been missing since he picked up an injury. This should help push the side
on and into the top half of the Premier League table.
A positive effect
Kuyt's return should have a positive effect on the rest of the team because he's a player who likes to set the example. He works very hard off of the ball and his physical
fitness means he will close down opposition players throughout 90 minutes.
His versatility is crucial to the way Liverpool plays football. His best position is a striker but he has learned how to play out on the right wing, which will be useful
if Liverpool wants to play slightly wider.
The most likely scenario is that Kuyt will start on the bench for the Chelsea game. This will allow him to fire himself up for however long he gets on the pitch.
"I am quite happy with them because I have recovered quickly. I have trained
really hard and am ready to start team training tomorrow," he added.
