Liverpool striker, Dirk Kuyt, has expressed his pride at reaching the goal scoring milestone for Liverpool despite being a peripheral figure at Anfield this season.
Personal milestones are always a special occasion for any player, yet everyone related to Liverpool Football Club could not help but smile for their Dutch striker, Dirk Kuyt and he slotted home his 50th goal for club against Wolverhampton Wanderers
last night.
The Dutch striker had been on 48 goals for a considerable amount of time, not having scored in the Barclays Premier League since May 2011. However, late winner against bitter rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup and a well taken finish against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 a
few days later meant that he reached his half-century in a flurry.
The arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471, Luis Suarez, Maxi Rodriguez and Andy Carroll have led to increased competition for places in the side.
Kuyt however, seems to be Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish’s, lucky charm over the past week as he has found the back of the opposition net on two consecutive occasions.
Commenting on his 50th goal, Kuyt sounded rather relieved. He said:
“Finally I got the goal and it has took me a while. It was great to score the winner against United and it was a proud moment to get my 50th league goal for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.”
He continued by expressing his pride at being part of a rare club of Dutch players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966 and Dennis Bergkamp who also managed to achieve the feat.
“It’s something that makes me really proud as not many Dutch people have come over here and done that, so it’s special.”
Kuyt was quick to applaud the effort of the team as the side managed to earn a valuable three points against Premier League strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
”The most important thing though was the team won and we deserved it.”
