Dirk Kuyt says Liverpool are progressing under Roy Hodgson
Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt has revealed his belief that the club are making progress under manager Roy Hodgson and will soon begin to recover from their worst start to a season in 57 years.
After picking up just six points from their first seven matches, they are mired in 19th spot — in the middle of the relegation zone —12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
However, the 30-year-old Dutch forward believes that the hard work ethic Hodgson has instilled on the squad is beginning to pay off on the training ground and that the progress would soon bring much more positive results on the pitch.
He told LFC Weekly that: "If you could see the training sessions, you could see the progress that is being made every day. We have been working really hard and we believe in ourselves. The progression is there and I believe it's just a matter of time before
it comes out on the pitch and the good results will follow. We are working hard on playing with the shape of the team that the manager likes to use and we have been making progress. We didn't have a lot of time in pre-season to work on things but it is definitely
starting to come together."
Potential sale of club 'very positive'
Meanwhile, Kuyt — who is currently on international duty with his country for UEFA 2012 European Football Championship qualifying matches against Moldova and Sweden — believes that the potential sale of the club to Boston Red Sox owner New England Sports
Ventures can only be positive for Liverpool.
He said that: “I think it is very positive that new owners are taking over the club. I knew the club was looking for new owners and was working very hard for that. It looks like it's finally done. I have to wait and see what the new owners are like, but
it's probably good news."
