Dirk Kuyt to return to Liverpool early
Liverpool has been handed a huge boost with the news that Dirk Kuyt should return from injury earlier than expected.
The Dutchman picked up a shoulder injury while away on international duty for his country. Early predictions put Kuyt out of action for a number of weeks but manager Roy Hodgson has revealed the player
is back in training.
"Dirk has trained the last couple of days.
We're trying to protect him a little bit but he's made a remarkable recovery," said Hodgson.
Kuyt is a key member of the Liverpool team. It's important the club nurses him back to full health as soon as possible because the team has struggled without someone to
play down the right of midfield.
"It'll be interesting to see how he progresses on Thursday and Friday in relation
to Saturday's game and the game next Thursday. We thought three to five weeks, so we're at the quick end of the scale,"
added Hodgson.
A key member
Kuyt is one of the few players in Liverpool that works very hard in every single game. His attitude and work ethic is superb and counters for anything he lacks in quality.
Kuyt now plays more of a right wing role as opposed to being a main striker. This makes him vital for Liverpool because he creates a high number of chances for strikers
to score. His passing can put strikers in behind the opposition defence or he can put the ball into a more central area.
The Dutchman is also a very good defensive player. His fitness allows him to track back and fill in gaps in the Liverpool defence. This will allow Hodgson to give Glen
Johnson a more aggressive role at full back. This will help Liverpool to look more balanced.
Betting advice
Kuyt will make Liverpool a deadlier team and a harder side to break down. He gets forward as often as possible, which means he can score at any time in any game. Don't
back him to be top scorer because he has already missed a chunk of the season.
