Dirk Kuyt’s injury will affect Netherland in Euro 2012 and Liverpool in EPL - Part 2
Dirk Kuyt obtained the injury while training. He has been called from Anfield by his country’s coach Bert van Marwijk. Bert van Marwijk has stated that the winger will probably be out of action for a couple of weeks and his absence is sure to be felt in the team.
Kuyt has now returned to England and the Liverpool medical centre club’s doctors have confirmed that Kuyt will be out for the next few weeks. They have told that they have started the treatment and more examinations. They added the additional tests on the player will give a better picture of his injury and then the final statement about him will be conveyed.
The doctor at Liverpool heading Kuyt’s case is Dr. Peter Brukner. While talking to the media he stated, “Dirk has damaged his shoulder at the A-C joint, which is between the collar bone and the shoulder. He is likely to be out for four weeks”.
It is predicted that because of this injury Kuyt will be missing the following matches for Liverpool: Birmingham, Steaua Bucharest, Manchester United, Northampton, Sunderland and Utrecht. Exclusion from all these matches can bring jeopardy to the club.
Joe Cole who was obtained this summer via free transfer from Chelsea will have to play a larger role now. The signing of Cole came under controversial conditions as Liverpool manager Hodgson asked skipper Steven Gerrard and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher to convince the player to play for the Reds.
Earlier Cole along with Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti were refused a renewal on their contract by Chelsea saying that they no longer required their services. Cole was already disappointed by England’s performance in the World Cup therefore was approached by Liverpool’s Gerrard who convinced him that Liverpool was the perfect place for him to turn over a new page.
He persuaded him by saying that Liverpool too was making a comeback and it represented Cole with a perfect opportunity to rejuvenate along with it. Cole later told that he was privileged because of his arrival at Anfield and hoped to have a successful career.
The 28 year old forward is considered part of the Golden Generation as he started his career from West Ham United in 1998 and stayed with them till 2003. He appeared in 126 fixtures for them and scored 10 goals.
From here Chelsea bought him in 2003 and for them he has participated in 183 matches and scored 28 goals.
Cole’s first match for the Reds was quite controversial as he was sent off the field when he tackled an Arsenal player. The decision is considered to be quite harsh but however what was more surprising was Hodgson’s decision of not appealing against it.
