The out of favour Australia fast bowler, Dirk Nannes, has been re-signed by the Surrey County Cricket Club for this season’s Friends Life T20 campaign.
The 35-year-old left-arm fast bowler from Victoria has earned international caps for both the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 and Australia. He is the leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game with tally of 169 T20 scalps from 135 appearances.
The cricket manager of Surrey, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Patrick-Adams-c50949, was excited to have the sensational left-arm fast bowler back for the 2012 season. Adams termed Nannes as the most consistent and dangerous bowler in the shortest format of the game and
hoped his return would boost the Surrey dressing room.
"As we saw last season in the shortest form of the game, Dirk is still one of the most consistently dangerous and economical bowlers on the world scene," said Adams speaking to the media reporters on Thursday.
"He did a fantastic job for us and I can speak for the whole club when I say we are delighted to welcome him back for another spell," he added further.
During the 2011 FL T20 tournament, the left-arm Australian pacer took 19 wickets at an average of 20.05. Nannes, who has not played a T20 game for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 since October 2010, is based in the United Kingdom and will be signed by
the Surrey CCC for the ten group games. If the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 team qualifies for the knock-out stages, then there is a condition that he could remain available for the county.
Adams said that the inclusion of Dirk Nannes will not only strengthen the Surrey bowling but he will be crucial in the death overs.
"He brings new ball prowess and an ability to bowl very well at the death, which we don't naturally have available in the squad all the time as we have bowlers who may have to go off on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 duty.
The Victorian will join Murali as the second overseas player at The Oval. Both Nannes and Kartik had earlier led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 to FL T20 championship title in 2008.
"With having brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murali-Kartik-c78034 in…to bring in a world-class seamer and a left-armer is great," he added further.
