Dirk Nowitzki picks San Antonio Spurs to pip Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals – NBA Update
The San Antonio Spurs are going to edge out the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals and move on to the NBA Finals, that’s the verdict from Dirk Nowitzki. The Dallas Mavericks super star gave those views in a recent interview when he was
asked to pick a winner from the mouth-watering matchup.
Like everyone else in the NBA, Dirk was excited about the matchup. OKC and San Antonio are the two best teams in the Western Conference; they proved that in the regular season and have now advanced to the Conference Finals after having lost just one game
between them in the entire post season.
Dirk therefore said he was looking forward to some exciting basketball.
“It’s going to be spectacular. Hopefully it’s going to be a long series and we can all watch some great basketball.” Dirk said, according to Sports Radio Interviews.
The forward went on to say that both teams had areas of strength and would provide for enthralling viewing, but was hesitant in picking a winner. When asked point blank to chose on side though, Nowitzki opted for the more experienced Spurs, who will also
have home court advantage in the series.
“I think San Antonio’s going to do it just because they’ve got one more home game. They really came on strong late in the season and they snatched home-court advantage away from OKC. So, I got to think just by that there is a little slight advantage.”
The Spurs indeed were tremendous at the end and have won nearly twenty straight games going back into the regular season. Oklahoma City Thunder too though look ominously strong and have disposed off arguably tougher opponents in Dallas and Los Angeles Lakers.
“But honestly, both teams are good enough to win on the opponent’s floor so I would give a slight advantage to San Antonio, but, man, OKC is looking really good.” Dirk said.
Spurs come into the series having routed the Los Angeles Clippers and the Utah Jazz, both 4 – 0 sweeps.
Spurs have experience and guile on their side while the Thunder rely on sheer talent and explosiveness.
