Dirk Nowitzki’s proves that he is the best – NBA Special Report
The German sharp shooter Dirk Nowitzki who is known for his versatility and impeccable shooting has showcased this year that no one can match his calibre in the modern basketball. Fuelled with the determination to marshal the Dallas
Mavericks to their first championship title which is the only thing yet to be furnished on his resume as well, the influential power forward is not letting anyone come in his way.
After leading the Mavericks to a sweep against the two times defending champions Los Angeles Lakers, Nowitzki continued his spectacular performance against the young but lethal Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
Pitched up against two of the best young stars- Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook- in the league, Nowitzki simply took over the Conference Finals and proved that, it will take more than two good players to match his brilliance.
Nowitzki’s best performance in the Conference Finals came in the game 4 when the All-Star powered the Mavericks down the stretch to wrap up an electrifying 112-105 overtime victory at the Oklahoma City Arena. Oklahoma City were
leading with 15 points in the fourth quarter with 5 minutes remaining in the final buzzer. The win had apparently been sealed, but the big Dirk had other ideas. The German sharp shooter knocked down 12 points in the passage that followed and took the game
in overtime from where Dallas procured a brilliant win. Nowitzki finished off with a game-high 40 points and 5 rebounds which was also one of the best play-off performances this year.
Two nights later, at the American Airlines Centre, Nowitzki showcased his brilliance yet again in the defining moments of the game when he buried a scorching blow from downtown with 1:14 remaining in the final period and snatched
the lead for his team. Afterwards Dirk landed two decisive free throws as the Mavericks romped to a magnificent 100-96 victory and won the series 4-1.
After five years, the Mavericks have become the Kings of the Conference yet again. Nowitzki has been the driving force for the Mavericks to climb the ladder of success but the most important feat is yet to be accomplished and Nowitzki
is ready.
"I was already thinking about the finals. This is nice for a day, but we set our goals in October to win it all. We haven't done it yet. It feels good to finally go back. This time, hopefully we can finish the job." Dirk said.
The Mavericks have earned themselves some time to fuel the engine for the championship title this year. Most probably, the team is going to face the mighty Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Although Miami has been performing exceptionally
well in the post-season, however there will be only one thing for them to watch out in the big contest, the unmatchable and versatile brilliance of Dirk.
