Question:

Dirt Bike Clutch?

I have an '08 yz250f. When I shift into 1st to take off it seems like I have to give a little too much throttle to keep it engaged and for me to take off. Is this a clutch problem? If so, what can I do to fix it?

  1. Sounds like it's delayed

  2. being a brand new bike it needs to be run in things should loosen up and you will get more of a feel for your bike the more you ride in a month or so you wont even notice it

  3. Theres nothing wrong at all. This is simply how the new four strokes are set up. The don't "lug" like the old ones you really got stay in it. Nothings wrong with your bike go ride it and break her in a little!

  4. Its just a new bike man

  5. OK so everyone that answered is wrong

Yamaha clutches arnt the greatest, its been known for a while and yamaha is trying fix the clutch issue

i have an 07 yz450f, it did the same thing.

you should be able to pull in the clutch and click into first without the biking wanting to stall or take off!

if it does that then what the h**l is the purpose of the clutch then?

what is happening is the clutch plates are sticking, which means the clutch is NOT FULLY ENGAGING, now how i solved the problem was,i took it down the road and went through the gears and by doing that it loosend the clutch plates up and never had the problem since.

Now if that doesnt work then you might have to switch oil

i run motul 10w40 on mine and clutch works great

now if you ru the bike hard you 10w15

  6. Its not the clutch, it just needs to be ridden a little more.

If its not because its not ridden enough, then it ahs to do wtih something else besides the clutch
